I’m a Nerd

I love to read news. I am constantly bookmarking things that I want to read later. But, instead of wasting my time going through my Firefox bookmarks I’m using Instapaper.

If you don’t have an Instapaper account please consider it. It makes my life a lot easier and I’m sure it would help you out, as well.

I use it for journalism related stories and stories related to work. It has everything I want and need to read in one spot. It’s convenient and simple.

Don’t know what it is?

Via its FAQ:

Instapaper facilitates easy reading of long text content.

We discover web content throughout the day, and sometimes, we don’t have time to read long articles right when we find them.

Instapaper allows you to easily save them for later, when you do have time, so you don’t just forget about them or skim through them.

My favorite part of all of this… it’s limitless. You can save and delete as you go without the worry of exceeding any limits. It works for your laptop or PC and your phone. It’s really handy and, like I said above, will make your life much easier.

The Instapaper app on iTunes is $3.99. Nothing this good comes for free. It’s compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad and requires iOS 5.0 or later. For Android, Instapaper is a bit cheaper at $2.99.

It’s really simple to set up an account and, when you do, it looks a bit like this for your laptop or pc-

For your iPhone it looks like this-

It’s really simple to use. I “save” stories throughout the day and read them each night. I’ve yet to catch up on everything I’ve saved, but it’s a handy tool that I know I couldn’t live without.

Have you ever wondered how much you type or click on a daily, weekly or monthly basis?

An app/site that does just that is called WhatPulse. Basically, WhatPulse tracks your keys and clicks as you click and type. It’s amazingly simple and is really fun. As of noon today I’ve clicked 1,503 times and I’m about to hit 14,000 keys hit. It’s free and easy to use, as well.

I know what you’re thinking. It’s not a keylogger, though. So don’t worry! It comes with a “geek window” that tracks your usage  and gives you your “rank” among other users and teams that have formed since WhatPulse started up.

I use it to see how much I’m typing each day. It’s a bit addictive, but it’s fun.
