Story of the Week 9/2

Welcome to this week’s installment of “Story of the Week.”

I have two stories that I’m going to highlight today.

The first comes from Tuesday with “McMahon campaign comes to local farm.” (It was printed in Wednesday’s paper because it was after deadline on Tuesday)

I drive by the Hytone Farm everyday on my way to work each day. I can still smell all of the cows. It’s one thing to smell them driving by, but it’s another to smell them all up close and personal. I had always wanted to get a tour of the farm. My notebook was full of the workings of the dairy farm, but I ran out of space to use all of it. To say that working a farm is tiring, complicated and stressful is an understatement. It’s something I don’t envy, at all.

It’s not everyday you get to see a farm up close. I had a blast.

As for Linda, she gives a mean handshake and it was interesting to see her at a farm in boots and jeans. She looked relaxed and shared plenty of laughs and smiles with local farmers. With everything that’s been going on around her, it was fascinating to see her interact with others without the stress of a bunch of reporters and cameras.

This week’s second featured story comes from a school board meeting in Coventry- Facilities named for Pietrantonio, Hurlock

I could have written a 40″ story for this one. I really underestimated how packed the town hall annex would be for the meeting. It was an emotional meeting.

I really liked the way this story came out.

There’s not much to say.

It’s a quick read that I hope you read twice.
