Matthew Keys, a social media editor at Reuters, was indicted by the DOJ a couple weeks ago. Journalists have been tweeting about it nonstop. He allegedly helped Anonymous.

I have to admit that I’ve tweeted with Keys a ton of times and I was pretty shocked to hear about the indictment.

Read up on this. It’s going to be all over the news for days and weeks to come.

I felt compelled to put this on my blog because it’s all about journalism and it’s a big deal.

” Each of the two substantive counts carry a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of $250,000.  The conspiracy count carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of $250,000,” the indictment says.

That’s a long time and a lot of money. The charges are real and I’ll be following this each week as it progresses and more information is either leaked or discussed.
