Story of the Week 12/2

Welcome to this week’s installment of “Story of the Week.”

This week’s story was pretty easy to pick out.

Day is no Pajama Game for students

It was our Saturday feature story and I wrote it live Friday night.

I won’t give away too much because I’m hoping you’ll read it, but it really opened my eyes.

I’ve never come across so many sick kids before (it’s in the story). I had no idea babies could be diagnosed with cancer 21 days after they were born.

I mean, I’ve had almost 10 members of my family either pass away or survive cancer that I know about. Cancer is a much too common thing in today’s world, but reading about it affecting children is another thing.

I wish I had more time for the story. I could have easily done a feature on each family that talked to me. I really think people should know about their stories. I didn’t even think to pitch that to my editors. I might for this coming week. I’m not sure how we would approach it, but it’s an idea.

Let me know what you think about the story. I’m looking forward to your comments, suggestions or whatever comes to mind.
